If a war with Iran doesn't go nuclear it could possibly make world war 1 and world war 2 look like a walk in park.

If another major war starts there wont be any need to draft anyone. It will be on everyones' doorstep within days even if it doesn't go nuclear. The sheer volume of armaments and munitions stock piled around the world made in a 'factory near you' guarantees all people will be targets in a total war.
Some folks at both ends of the spectrum really want that, they really want a fight to the finish. I grew up during the cold war but this creeping war of the last decade is much more scary.

After having failed miserably and totally with the war on Iraq, do you honestly think the US and the UK will get involved in Iran.
I think George Bush is insane enough to do just that!! It will be a total and utter disaster. Another completely illegal and disgusting war. There would be such a public outrage that they would never be able to draft people.

I think we're already at war with them, however, as for drafting, ex army personel would be the first to be drafted. After leaving the army/military you may still be requested to come back in, but it would be up to the ex soldiers' discression. But... who's to say in the far away future, if the army are very short on numbers, you never know.

The war with Iran will be mainly air strikes-- use of ground forces will be limited.

No, it'd call up the suckers who used to be in the military and are still eligible for recall.
F*ckers would have to find me first. I've done my time, been to bloody Iraq, and I don't fancy a trip to see the next door neighbours.

it would never get to that stage, if so many British soldiers were being killed that conscription was needed you would probably find a nuke heading Tehran's way... game over
