The people on here who claim to be Christians have ZERO sense of humor. Atheists and others seem to do just fine, and realize when a question is tongue-in-cheek, so what's up with Christians?

Glad you like the avatar; it's from a birthday card my sister sent me for my 50th birthday. I forget the exact sentiment, but it was something about, "Who, ME, slow down at 50???" ;-)

That's an awesome question. Either they have no sense of humor to begin with, or there are a whole bunch of back-room, midnight surgeries in church basements. Probably the night before baptisms...

Nope. I laughed when i saw this question. The Church just likes to make everything seem more serious than it is, and by result, many christians have an underdeveloped sense of humor. i wouldnt say most Christians, but a lot do.
I even respond jokingly to trolls, unless there mocking christianity, in which I politely refute them - your question was neither rude nor not-funny, so its all good with me.

Well, we have so many unbelievers to respond to here, that it takes all our energy to try to share God's love with them. Not a lot of energy left for kidding around. Salvation is way too important to neglect. In the face of all the criticism and mockery we face on this site, our main goal is still to spread the gospel and hope at least one will see the light.
If they would get to know most Christians on a personal level, they would find that most Christians have a great sense of humor.

I'm considered to be one of the funniest people in my family and friends and pretty much none of my family is Christian. So I don't really know why you are judging all Christians as having no sense of humor as a group, that's just stupid.

Please don't chuckle.
This is not intended as proof that I have a sense of humor.
I think that committed believers (in ANYthing) have a different take on humor than others who are non-committed.
The non-committed see humor as part of a detachment necessary for critical thinking and for "sales resistance" to predators, economic and ideological.
Committed believers (including Christians) have willingly and often joyously, lowered those defenses in selected areas and are not critical and detached IN THOSE AREAS. So they don't make or even "get" jokes in those areas. It is often a question of whether a specific topic (or joke) is part of those areas.
I enjoy humor about some aspects of faith, Christian life, Scripture, and God, but I am troubled (and I guess the word is "offended") by humor about Jesus' Crucifixion --perhaps as I would be by jokes about my children's deaths.
Actually, I am politically correct enough to be more likely to be offended at jokes about other people's religion than about my own or my own Church.
Humor is fun for a Christian, but not a moral virtue as it is felt to be by secularists.
Now you can laugh.
Thanks for waiting.

Oh no no no no no . . . I even play with the FSM questions -- however, I may be a tad reserved for awhile -- there seems to be someone of the troll persuasion in my back pocket these days.

Are all non Christians combative and prone to hurling insults so they can get a rise out of people to make themselves feel accomplished?

No. It is an elective surgery. Didn't you know? It is the "fashionable" thing to do in the Christian community. Kind of like breast implants in Hollywood.

Oh, I don't know that I agree with that.
Some of the Christians have caused me to burst my side with laughter at some of their responses. Many of them are (unintentionally) well past hilarious.
