I just read this one user here about abortion, and some says, "Oh so you are for this and that like against the capital punishment," etc. What was that about? If a person believes in one thing, automatically, all the other things are assumed to be believed as well like against capital punishment? I'm against Abortion and but i am for capital punishment. why? Because that is my belief. If a person believes one thing, that's only one thing you KNOW they believe it.

I notice some christians believes abortion is wrong and some believes Atheists to be abortion loving. But there are Atheists who knows it's wrong too, And considering I'm an Atheist, i believe it's wrong to kill a baby. I don't care what you do with the baby, but i only disliked the idea.

I believe that if something is agreeable or disagreeable to you like the capital punishment, abortion, gay marriage, etc, then who are we to say who is right and who is wrong? They both have its own views.

You need to understand the reasons why?

eg. Abortion is wrong - because it is taking a human life.
Only problem is, a foetus is not regarded as a human life, because it has not been born yet, is not fully formed.

It is OK to execute a criminal who has taken a life or taken lives --- because this person can never be released back into society again, because he will kill again.
Only problem is -- if that person is innocent, then a huge mistake has been made, and an innocent person was executed.

It does not matter if you are a Christian or whatever, or an atheist --- as long as you know the reasons why, people object or are in favour of this or that.

If you will exercise common sense, you will have a common understanding. It is when you discard your common sense (and reason and logic) that things get very messy, and there is confusion, etc etc.

Sadly people of any religion, tend to discard their common sense, and simply just believe only in their religion.
Because that is what their religion does - tells them how to think, behave, and do, etc etc.

If someone say they believe something, I assume that there is a reason for that belief and I expect people's reasons to usually be consistent from one situation to another.

For example, if someone believes that abortion is wrong because they think that life begins at conception and ALL human life is precious, then I'm also expecting them to believe in the preciousness of human life in other situations. So I think it is a bit hypocritical if that person is against abortion but in favor of capital punishment or killing their enemies in war.

However, you say "I'm against Abortion and but i am for capital punishment. why? Because that is my belief." This kind of circular logic leads me to believe that you do not base your beliefs on consistent reasoning.

What they're saying is that it's HYPOCRITICAL to be against abortion but to be for capital punishment, or some of those other things. If you are for life, you're for ALL life, not just the life that pleases you.

You need to make the common argument, that you are not for the killing of innocent life.

because fundimentalists are narrow minded and believe that if you believe in one "evil" then you believe in them all
