Both the video and audio quality is poor. I'm using "Firewire" and have tried many software programs, all with the same results.

it takes a lot of computer horsepower to simultaneously capture streaming data, apply an MP2 compression scheme, and format a dvd. you must not be running any other programs, including backgound programs, as that will cause dropped frames. It would be an easier task to first capture the video as an AVI file. If you can do that without dropped frames, then burn the DVD from the saved file.

Is it 'choppy' before you burn it to DVD? Or are you using some 'direct to DVD' software? If the first answer is no - try the settings in your DVD creator software. If you are going direct to DVD the problem could be the Firewire port settings on your PC or a bad DVD drive or media. Basically get the video in the PC and make sure it's OK there before you look any further.
