If so, why do Christians often use disbelief in one to argue their disbelief in the other?

Yes sir, I certainly do.

That question has been bugging me too.

I think that, since their "explanation" covers everything from the origins of life to all that lives now, they assume evolution does the same.

Too bad most of them don't take the time to look into it.

Abiogenesis is the theory of how organic matter first formed and how it organized into a simple organisms, evolution is the theory of how those organisms became all the living things we have today.

I really have no answer to your second question though, I can't say why others think the way they do.

I do. If Christians argue in the way you describe, they're logically as well as factually confused.

It's more likely that they have the same objection to both ideas and their pastor told them that it's easier to make arguments against evolution.

Honestly I'm truly afraid to look at the answers to this. Any hope I had for the future of humanity has been greatly shaken by the magnitude and scope of ignorance displayed here. I weep for our species. You're asking people who on average can't find their own country on a world map without the borders drawn on it.

I always thought they disbelieved the first for fear of undermining their understanding of the second completely.

No, I don't know the difference with any certainty.

I do. And its because Christians don't understand it and aren't interested in trying to understand it.

Evolutionists believe that life came from nonliving material. How is that not abiogenesis?
