not since the building of the tower of babylon...

"But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel — because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth." -- Genesis 11:5-9

...nor I doubt will there be ever again.

Yes, slowly but surely we are making sure it's English. It is the first choice language for students world wide as a second language.

It's the language that everybody loves, except of course the French. They just hate the fact that more people prefer to speak English and English writers and poets dominate the world of literature. That's because it is just such a beautiful sounding language.

Go to any airport in the world, and you will see signs in two languages, the local language and English. Even in France this is the case. Why? Because more people are likely to speak English if they can't speak the local language.

It is the natural choice for an internationa language spoken by all and the best choice. As long as the Americans stop speaking their idiotic version and start speaking true English.

Yes. There was a time when there was only one language on earth, but things changed because people were trying to thwart God's plans. When God restores the earth to a Paradise, there will only be one language and complete unity.

No. they could have a consumer-friendly language in approximately 4000 years; called "worry-loose". it's going to be in line with a technology of what a actual technology-reformed language--no longer the approximational shorthand cr-- we use now has to do, has to incorporate, etc. the final analysis is the technology of what a language is and how it has for use to make statements approximately what's actual and what isn't actual in this universe on diverse "tiers" or "registers" or truenesshas to de attainable earlier ideas can prepare it to designing one languagew that consists of out the regulations. one difficulty could be that a actual noun could have an -os ending, working example. A rock must be a "lithos" yet a synthetic-rock, papier-mache for a action picture, could bring about ios, a "lithios". while every person observed the two endings he'd understand to which categories 2 important instruments of gadgets belonged at present. Such regulations could make it elementary to benefit and use; yet every person could produce different languages as start languages or perhaps 2nd languages. this could be found out as a third language--at 12--for expert/racial/interworld Federation of Planets' purposes. On "famous guy or woman Trek", human beings confer with "worry-loose", which we anticipate is an English by-product; yet they do no longer use it in any respect scientifically--different than they supply an actual length which includes 'that ships i1.6357 meters long". Then somebody makes use of colloquial language and says, "How did a difficulty it quite is a mile long escape detection this long"... One language even the medical possible be a catastrophe. something incorrect with it--or misuses of it by ability of criminal leaders--could poison every person's life who used it. thank you for asking.

There will never be one language spoken by all, although that would be pretty cool, but there's always going to be someone who refuses. And if they are forced to, they will rebel and it will lead to chaos. I think. Interesting question!

you may notice that even within english there are many subsets, varieties. The reason is that language is the expression of culture, and for every culture there is a language.

Further, as there is American English and UK English, there is Irish and British, Kentucky and New York varieties. There is a historical context to this.

For as many cultures as there are, there will always be just as many ways of speaking.

I doubt it, unless someone forces all to speak it. People try to learn the language of the country that appears to be about to dominate, and that changes.
