Who else is bothered when you see a small child (I'm talking under 3 years old) with a mohawk? Do parents really think this is cute? I feel so sorry for the kids, they are too young to know better. It's one thing if it's an older child who can say that that's the hairstlye they want but a toddler has no clue!!

OK let me clarify.... I am all about individuality and having your own style whatever that may be, I just don't think CHILDREN under a certain age know what their style is yet!! Shouldn't they be allowd to grow into their own style? That's what bothers me, pushing something onto your child that they may not choose, which is why I stated under 3!!!!! And I cannot believe because of this it seems I "may be someone who is prejudiced against blacks." Are you kidding me?? I am not prejudiced against anybody, I simply don't care for mohawks on kids. Lighten up!!

Well ... the trick is that *any* hairstyle a parent gives their child is a personal expression of the parents' style. I can't stand a buzz cut on a little boy, or a super-fussy princess-style hair do on a little girl.

Virtually any set of choices we make regarding clothing, home furnishings, television and so on are influenced by our own tastes. IMHO, a mohawk isn't any stranger than parents putting their newborn daughter's tiny bits of hair into a pink ponytail holder. Different tastes. I like a mohawk, hate the ponytail holder. You're welcome to hold the opposite opinion.

My son has wild, curly hair that I've never cut. He's 3. He wears Ramones tees and Converse All Stars. Does he know who the Ramones are? I'd say yeah. He loves some of the songs that come on our local independent radio station, and when he sings along, I know he's listening. (Believe it or not, he has a thing for the Scottish band the Kooks.) He also knows Mickey Mouse and the Little Einsteins. And he loves ice hockey and the Red Wings, because his dad's from Michigan.

We impose our tastes on our kids all the time, in lots of different ways. There's no escaping it. And while a mohawk might be a very visible way of doing this, it's just one of thousands, none of which we can really escape.

Nor should we. Will my son grow up to be a Republican investment banker who cruises around in a gas-guzzling Hummer and clubs baby seals for fun? Sigh. Maybe. But for now, he's my kiddo and mine to garb as I see fit.

Come on, they have to have *something* to talk about in therapy in 20 years. ;)

It is kind of cute, in the same way it's cute when a little girl puts on her mom's makeup and carries a purse or a little boy dresses up like his dad. It's the "three going on twenty" thing; for some reason, people think it's adorable when kids look/act like little adults (keeping it family-friendly- it's not cute when kids are engaging in inappropriate behaviour). As long as it's not hurting the kid or the parents, what's the big deal?

I personally wouldn't do it to my children...I don't think it's cute on babies or kids or adults...I'm just not a fan of mohawks!!

**How does not liking mohawks make someone prejudice against blacks?? I've only seen white kids with mohawks...lol? Wow...insecure people!

I personally dont' care either way.

My younger son looks better, in our opinion, with longer hair. It just fits his personality. Everyone else in my family feels he needs to have this clean-cut look, but we like it, so who really cares?

It's hair. When the kid is old enough to decide whether he likes it or not, I would hope the parent wouldn't force them to continue to have the mohawk against their will.

Personally, I don't care for them, and I wouldn't have my kids with a mohawk. But I see no reason to have an opinion either way about another child's haircut.

Personally I have other things to worry about than how other parents are fixing their kids hair. But, I find it cute and if a 3 year old wants to wear his hair like that, who cares? They're kids, let em be. 20 years from now they'll look back and laugh.

I think it's cute, as long as the hair isn't cut that way. When putting sunblock on my son, I'll occasionally push his hair up into a mohawk; he thinks it's funny.

Yes, they must think it is cute. No, I am not bothered. There are PEOPLE who are not cute in general and I don't make fun of them. Everyone has their own tastes and that is what we should be celebrating. Everyone's differences.

Sounds like you are someone who might be prejudiced against blacks as well.

I don't like mohawks on adults, let alone children. When around the house or just washing the child's hair and sticking it up, I don't see anything wrong with that but out in public? I wouldn't do it

faux hawks and mohawks dont bother me. I think theyre kinda cute. Its different if its a toddler always looking like that, and then acting like a brat on top of it.

What i CANNOT STAND are mullets and rat tails. I still see those. Who on EARTH says to themselves- hey! this oughta look sooo cute on my kid!

guh
