i saw this on tv like a year ago but never got to ask about it.

i saw on this tv show that there was some "bible code" and that it predicts the end of the world to be december 12,2012(12-21-12)

i also saw that the ancient mayans predicte that also

do you think its significant at all?

I hope it's not significant, 12-21 is my birthdate. I believe throughout history there have been other "end of the world" prediction dates that have come and gone without anything happening. I would assume this prediction will not happen either.

"the end of the world" isn't gonna happen on a particular day in a particular year. it'll happen slowly, hardly noticed by the masses of milling humans but the weather will change, water will become rare in some places and too abundent in others so food will become scarce as soil is washed away in floods or cracking in drought, bees and other pollen carriers will disappear and there's not enough fodder for humans or beasts. then we humans won't be fighting over ideology or government agendas. we'll be killing each other over arable land and potable water. at least the wildlife will have been wiped out so no competition there.

I guess we'll have to wait until 12-21-12 to find out is the code is true. But I'd be more than willing to bet that 12-21-12 will be just another day.

Who knows, but I'm 99% sure that it's false. People have been predicting the end of the world for centuries, but I would plan to stay in on that night just in case. It's a big one and even though nothing Biblical will happen, some people will get stupid and crazy.

The bible code theory states that in the old testament, certain predictions are hidden among the rest of the text. Proponents of the theory insist that they can find names of people there. The problem is, it's applied retrospectively; in other words, they take things that have already happened, THEN look for them in the old testament and surprise surprise, they manage to find them!

The bible code theory has been discredited by several researchers. I would advise you not to waste time on it, to be honest!

significant ?

not really.

When "researchers" find "patterns" in a cryptographic search, which contains "pre-existant knowledge" I usually shake my head tiredly. (the bible-code hunters HAD to have known about the Mayan date-set [old news] ) .... there's an old phrase:

"torture the data sufficiently and it will confess to anything."

maybe the 12, 212, 012-th monkey typing on its random order keyboard was suffering from a schizophrenic episode that day

Gregorian / Julian calendar offsets notwithstanding.

I might "want to" believe, but I doubt that any suppressed desire on my part would "make it so."

....... but the dudes can make a couple bucks and get their 15 minutes of fame

[ I confess to having suspicions about the findings of "bible-code" researchers ]

Nope I don't put any stock in any of that stuff. I'm from SF Calif and every year there was the rumor that on such & such date the entire city was going to slip into the ocean. Never happened I doubt very seriouly if we are really going to get when & where invitation to the end of the world...

there is a huge significance in numbers within scripture, and thousands of studies have been done on them.
My guess is that you have seen a program that deals with one of the theoretical applications of those numerical references. There are hundreds.
Scripture is very clear.... we will not know the day or hour or minute for when the Lord returns. Only the Father knows that.

blessings :)

Nope. Utter rubbish.
I saw a programme about that too, but I think if you pick the right numbers for the code you could make messages out of any book. For example, using every sixth word. My book is : "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde...

the ...rich ...light ...trees ...through ...of ...delicate ...thorn

Some idiot could make up a prediction from that too.

No. Please don't believe bizarre things like this to steer you away from good doctrines. The Bible says:

Matthew 25:13  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

GOD bless
