Ok, so my aunt and uncle own a restaurant that's pretty popular in this area. I also work there as a cook and i'm only 15. All the regulars that come to the restaurant say i'm one of the best cooks there. My parents approve of it but my grandma doesn't. She say's I shouldn't be having a job at 15, especialy at a restaurant as a cook.
What do you think?

i dont think that having a job at 15 is a problem, my younger brother has been working (parttime of course) since he was like 13 i think it was. hes 16 now and has been working like 2 or 3 parttime jobs at a time all the time but of course this isnt because we dont have money. its just because he enjoys making his own money and working when he has free time. i do understand where ur grandma is coming from. but its not her decision.

As long as it is being done legally and they are not having you work past a certain number of hours a day (there are state and federal laws for how many hours a minor is allowed to work per day) and you are getting paystubs for your pay like a normal employee then definately it's fine as long as your school work is holding up. My mom tried to force me to get a job at 15 and here in washington state it's not legal to hire under 15.5 and employers won't hire under 16 due to the limited hours a teen could work. I know alot of states have some exemptions for family businesses but it's something you'd have to look up.

If it is legal for you to be working as a cook and you are truly loving it ---well that is one thing BUT-wow you are a kid for such a short time and, you will have to work the rest of your life. Take some time to enjoy being a 15 year old too .!

I think having a job at this age is the beginning of learning responsibility (being their on time, doing a good job and managing your money).

Your grandmother might think that your focus should be on school at this age, but if your grades are not suffering, then I think you are learning how to juggle life. Good for you!

I got my first job at the age of ten. I worked at a local hunting club loading the skeet machine in an underground concrete block bunker.

I worked when I was 15. It made it that much easier for me to buy a car when I turned 16. If your grades aren't suffering, you're making money, and helping out your family, I see nothing wrong with doing it. :)
