I've been looking to start babysitting. However, I can't find many good websites that explain things. I am going to be taking a course at the YMCA or something, but I still have a few questions.
How much do you charge? What about when it's at night/ holidays, etc?
What types of games can you play?
How would you disapline them if they acted up?

* a little more info... I'm a teenager, and haven't charged for babysitting before, however I've been babysitting for family for a couple years, and haven't had a problem.

Thanks :)

How much you should charge depends a lot on the area you in it can range from $4-$10 and hour depending on the number of kids and the economy.I heard sitters in California are getting up to $12.I usually let the parents make me an offer and its almost always more than I would have asked for.Games depend on the kids age.Coloring is always a good activity. If you have several kids a board game or the game colored eggs is good.Card games like go fish, crazy eights and old maid are good to.Hide and seek can be fun.Just think about the stuff you liked to do when you were the age of the children your watching and you should be good.Of course you can always ask the kids what they want to do.I always use time out as a discipline.I've had parents tell me I could spank there kids but that seems like a horrible idea.Just use good judgment and common sense and its really not hard at all. Good luck

I play any game sthe kids like. girls like different stuff then boys and it all depends on the ages. if they act up threatan to call their parents or send them to time out. good luck!

Let the parents decide what to pay you , and everything else depends on how old they are. younger kids need more interactive games, while older ( like 9 and 10) just need someone to be there so they don't accidentally kill themselves. Try bringing beads and stuff to make necklaces, and for really little kids ( younger than kindergarden) be prepared to play either house, school, or fairy princess
