someone asks a question and then berates those who give an answer that is not what he/she wants to hear?

I see it now and then in the "additional details" of the question.

Why ask a question if you are going to complain about the answers you receive?

i completely agree with you an this one. What annoys me most though is that I think that those who answer the R& S questions put more thought and effort into their answers than those on any other YA sites and people who ask what are basically rhetorical questions don't seem to respect that kind of effort.
If a person wants an answer that completely agrees with their particular point of view then they should say so from jump street .
They should phrase their question like this
"I will award a BA to the person who thinks most like me because their answer which I will agree with will confirm exactly how right i am about things .The rest of you guys shouln't waste your time answering my question because I will either ignore you or berate for daring to disagree with me "
Sometimes a little honesty goes a long way

I don't get mad, I don't find it amusing, I just think that people can be so rigid and narrow-sighted to not let people just answer. If someone answers off-topic or insultingly then it is a reflection more on the particular person answering than on the person asking the question. The small amount of time I ask questions I welcome all answers, even the insulting ones.

They can try to get the answer they would like to hear, and also try to scare away those who disagree, by berating them, but that does not mean they will get what they want. Their job is to ask, not be the answerer to.

You have to keep in mind, that we are not all mature on here....It is hard for some of them, to put into words, what they want to ask.....I try to figure it out and give them some type of answer....I hate to see a question about religion, especially,,,ignored....just remember when they are whining,,they may be the age that is entitled to do that...LOL

Because these people do not really want to learn. They are merely attempting to perpetuate stereotypes (Why do Catholics worship Mary) or just want to spread falsehoods (Why did Darwin refute evolution and get "saved" on his deathbed).
The best answer is always given to the person who agrees with the questioner, not the one who actually answers the question.

Yes, it is amusing. And as the additional details grow, the object of the question is completely lost.

I've seen people add 20-30 "additional details, " addressing each person in turn. This isn't a very good forum for that sort of back and forth.

OR they tell you which group or groups can or cannot answer the question.

It's ok to ask for certain group's opinions but I've seen some state that other groups should not answer.

I love it, because it just goes to show that people who are supposed to be so "open minded" are really whiny, close-minded babies who expect everyone to cater to them and can't take a joke or a little honesty.
