My teacher was showing us like water in a cup was holding way more pennies than you would expect, and she was like, why do you think this is happening? How can this be possible?

Would that be funny?
Yes it is a comment, but in my school that's how people make jokes, by making funny comments.
Please be as positive as possible, without lieing, I don't want to feel like I should never make jokes again. Seriously, please don't be mean.

Wow omg I cant believe your even asking this. People who need to double check if there jokes are funny, shouldnt be making jokes in the first. This all just comes off as so gay while reading it. Next time just say it. Im not trying to be mean if it sounds like this, just telling you.

If it was funny, it would have been funny in the moment. I guess it's slightly amusing hearing the re-tell. Obsessing about if your comments are funny or not is kind of defeating the purpose of comedy -- which is best and funniest when said in the moment due to wit and the ability to make an apt call.
Unless you got in trouble for it. In that case, the teacher was probably just exhausted from trying to get you all to learn stuff and just had it with what she thought was a smart *** comment.
One more important thing about comedy -- know your audience. If you're the quiet kid who comes out with a joke it'll either go off really well because it's unexpected that you said anything or it'll make people a little freaked that you finally talked.
Think about your timing, your audience and your wit BEFORE you make the comment, not after.
Afterward, all you can do is deal with the laughter or lack thereof.
