I use Advantix and found a little lump on her so I checked and saw what I think is a tick so I got my tick puller and got it out. It was hard to get out and I saved it in case I have to take her to the vet. I cleaned the area with alcohol. Do you think I need to take her to the vet? Or is there something I should give her to make sure she don't get sick? She is 10 months old and very well cared for.

I am also an owner of a Maltese. Is your dog up-to-date on his/her vaccines?? For example, Lyme ? I have my pooch vaccinated for Lyme Disease when he's ( Valentino- his name) due. I also, use every month, the Advantix. If your Maltese is vaccinated and you apply the Advantix every month, then he/she should be ok. But, save the tick and contact the Vet, just to be on the safe side. I hope that this helps. Ruth

If the tick is out, you don't need to do anything else. Make sure the tick is dead though, so it doesn't climb out of the garbage and attach to you or the dog again.

I just took one off the outside cat we feed, it's the first I've seen here in 15 years.
