The sponsors wouldnt allow that and the Drivers wouldnt have the guts to Race it. I ran it for 2 weekends back in the late 70s at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Then it was back to the ovals for me!!! I do believe seriously some of the most talented drivers in America are Figure 8 drivers across this country.--Right and left hand turns evey lap--90-95 MPH laps with no banking in the corners--Best Peripheral vision I have ever witnessed--GUTS GUT AND MORE GUTS going through the cross over--Great track awarness and instincts. It is very fun and exciting to watch but for me not to drive!!!--World Championship held in NY State several Inianapolis local drivers have won it up there--Sonny Thompson--Kenny St. John and others!!!!

Won't happen. I'd love to see it, but won't happen. Too much danger, too many mishaps, and by the time a race was over, you'd loose 2/3 of your TV audience because of the crazy number of cautions.
Now, what I would like to see is NASCAR bring in 3-4 dirt track races a year. Put those guys on a 3/4-1mile dirt oval and let 'em go at it.

they could i assume. in the event that they could build a great-roadcourse that had a component of the music in a 8 like shape that sent the backside of it into the floor. they could could desire to build a berrier around it so if there became right into a wreck in that area of the music, then it may severely shrink the possibility for horrendous wrecks. so a great way as a demo derby style race, forget approximately it, they have Bristol, Martinsville, and David Stremme to crash at, with, or by utilising. i don't think of that the hitting could be sufficient to kill the drivers yet they could get harm.

It would be AWESOME but it's too dangerous. NASCAR is serious about the driver's health and safety even though they go over 170 MPH every week.

Gee Wally! That would be neat. Then they could have a loop on the back stretch and maybe a ramp so they could jump on each lap too!

The answer to your question is safety. At the speeds they race it would be a matter of when, not if somebody would be seriously injured or killed.

They would have to turn RIGHT and we know that scares them. They can't even go around in circles without crashing into each other.
