My cat has a tick and I was wondering what the best thing to do about it is. Is there anything I can put on it to kill it?? Any information would be useful please.

If you paint it with nail polish then it will die and fall off.

My dog got into a cow field once and got tick peralysis. We took her to the vet and we got to pick ticks. All the vet techs helped out too. They gave us all tweezers and said to grab the tick as close to the skin as possible and just pull out with a steady motion. Check to see that the head of the tick came out too and then dump the tick into a cup full of alcohol. If the head didn't come out then you had to take out a bit of the skin in that spot also, the vet did this part. My dog was sedated for this though, because it took a long time. She had over 300 ticks on her .

ok. try lighting a match, blow it out, and quickly touch the still hot matchhead to the tick. hopefully it will back out on it's own and then you can kill it. if it has been on the cat for too long, it won't be able to pull out on it's own. if it doesn't back out, grab it between your finger and thumb as close to the cat as possible(if you can't bring your self to touch it, use a tissue to protect your fingers), and pull it out(with a sharp jerk). check the head of the tick for skin from the cat. if there is skin attached to the tick you got all of the tick.good luck! :-)

I had to just get one off this afternoon from the outdoor cat we feed. It hadn't been on very long, it wasn't huge yet. I used my fingernails to grab it as low to the skin as possible and pulled straight up slowly. If it's just attached recently you won't leave the head inside the cat's skin (if it's been on for a while then use the nail polish idea or dab it with rubbing alcohol).

Crush the thing under you shoe to make sure it's dead and gone. I squashed then scraped it, to make sure it wasn't going to move away and get on anything else.

One of the better ways to remove ticks is to put vaseline over them. They generally drop off as soon as they start to suffocate. Ensure you kill them when they fall off though to ensure they do not reattach at a later date.
Be careful if you have attempted to pull them off manually as quite oftne the mouth parts get stuck in the skin and if these are left in often an infection can set in.

If you let it stay on, your pet could get a disease. Get tweezers and pull it out slowly a close to the skin as you can. You dont want the head to stay in the animal or its body will grow back...

Take tweezers, pluck it off, put it in the toliet & flush.
It's harmless&&it doesn't hurt them.

Now, if she has more than one you need to get Frontline.

Take tweezers, pick it out, but it in a ziploc bag, and burn it.
