Two things need to happen here... Graves will either be dug vertically OR, people will be REQUIRED to be cremated in the future... OR, people could do what I am doing.... Making an anatomical gift... (donating your body to science)....teaching hospitals and universaries all over the country need cadaver donors so that they can train young men and women to be the doctors of the future.... An anatomical gift of your body after your death MIGHT even cure some disease or stop the spread of AIDS or even help in the discovery of a cure for CANCER and heart disease ... It may sound like a gruesome thing to do, but....the thing is, in making this anatomical gift, your family is left with NO BIG FUNERAL EXPENSES, there is no casket, urn or burial to worry about UNLESS you so chose to bury the remains AFTER the hospital or universary is finished with the remains (about 2 years after receiving them).... The body will be cremated at that time and ashes returned to the family at NO CHARGE to the family---(a kind of thank you for the use of your love one for the 2 years).... Those ashes can then be burried or spread anywhere the family sees fit...(in accordance to all laws of course)... I would STONGLY suggest that people SERIOUSLY consider going the route of the ANATOMICAL GIFT PROGRAM... you can find out more about it by searching Yahoo or Google ----

they will have to do like people do in Europe. Bury people 3-4 deep. lease the burial site for 10-15-20 years at a time, then take the remains and out and put them in a mass grave area.
They are making strides with GREEN BURIALS. I am set on cremation, but the toxins produced from that can counteract the benefits of saving land by not being burried. In a green burial the person is not embalmed, there is no grave stone/marker theyuse a small chip/implant so the body can be loacted/identified via electric/ground penatrating equipment. the person is burried in biodegradable shrouds, bamboo, cardboard, pine caskets. Then the area is more park like with trees, shrubs, flowers etc.

In the October issue of my "Vegetarian Times," there was an article about "green burials." In it they cited the " ... growing popularity of cremation, which accounts for nearly 1/3 of all dispositions today, a number expected to reach 45% by 2025."
Not sure, but I think their source was Joe Schee, executive director of the Green Burial Council.

In the future they will combine cemeteries with 100% environmentally friendly windmill and solar panel farms. Each grave will have a couple of solar panels attached to the tombstone. A windmill will be installed in the plot and the corpse will be loaded into the windmill's pole. Such a solution will solve America's energy problem by tapping into previously unused resources, the land, the wind and the sun.

You've not heard of woodland burials? Don't you have these in the states?

This way instead of a bumpy field with bits of stone to mow round, all you have is a beautiful wood. Beech woods are preferred for thier height and low levels of ground cover, like cathedrals.

Cremation, however some families have mausoleums that all the deceased family members are put into. When someone else dies their body is placed in the tomb pushing the previous body into an area with the rest of the bodies.

Graves have already taken over our fields and lands. Over the centuries, people have been buried almost everywhere on Earth.
Dust to dust.....ashes to ashes

If you have been keeping up with disaters in India that is the reality of mass deaths: they are either buried in mass graves or burned.
