All Souls Day is the day on which Catholics remember the dead and pray for them recognizing that they may still need to be brought to perfection (be in purgatory).

To the best of my knowledge, All Souls Day is only celebrated in the Catholic Church on November 2, the day after All Saints Day.

One exception is when November 2 falls on a Sunday, then the holy day is moved to November 3.

The theological reason of praying to saints for his or her intercession is fairly basic. first of all, we are exhorted by way of the recent testomony to "pray for one yet another." it quite is all over the Epistles. this would not supply up in basic terms given which you're ineffective. The Church believes that the saints (i.e., every person in Heaven--canonized Saints are possibly what maximum folk think of of, even with the undeniable fact that) do no longer lose this intercessory ability while human beings die. Saints are in basic terms our brothers and sisters who've long previous earlier us. i'm particular which you ask human beings on earth to wish for you. Do you tell them to easily bypass to Jesus given which you at the instant are not a mediator, and he's the only mediator between God and guy?
