Traditionally we give gifts to our coaches at the end as a means to thank them for their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
In the past we just spread the news by word of mouth, but I'm writing a short note and providing them an envelope to enclose the money-- I have a general idea of what i would like to say, but if anyone can make any improvements or better suggestions i would really appreciate it! Thank you!

As a thank you gift for all of Coach X and Y's hardwork and dedication this season, we have decided to give them a gift card to Z. Please enclose $8 dollars in the provided envelope and return to A or B as soon as possible. Thank you!

actually, it sounds a bit bossy. who is we? some will wonder why they weren't considered in the decision making process and others might not want to contribute. this makes it sound as if they have no choice. i think i would start with word of mouth and take it from there. it's more personal and people won't feel as if they're being forced to do this.
