I am so tired of hearing how they get tax breaks. Yesturday I read how they do not have to pay sell taxes, or income tax for 8 years. It stated how this is the way most foreigners came up with the money to open a business. How about busting their butts off working 24/7 to make a living and saving -saving-saving. Wish I had the same drive, but me I love to shop! What is your thought on this matter?

I know this is not true, I just wanted to see if other people believed this same crap. I am married to a foreigner and we work hard for everything we may have.

This is taken from a news topic in the village we live in--------This is why I asked this question to be again with...

sure when you get 8 years without having to pay sales tax or income tax -- get all kinds of government help, it's easy to run out long time business people.... You try competing against that. A sucssful business can go under when their competitors gwets those kinds of breaks

Urban legend.

Immigrants pay taxes like everyone else.

Wow...the rumor is up to 8 years now. Last week it was 7. By this time next year someone will post that they heard immigrants don't pay taxes for 20 years.......

My thought is this: You heard wrong, pure and simple. This is an old urban legend that refuses do die. Foreign individuals living in the US pay the same taxes that US citizens and residents do. There are rare exceptions for students and certain professionals but these are very rare exceptions indeed.

Any immigrant will pay exactly the same taxes you and I do. PERIOD!

I find it rather hilarious seeing as you claim to be married to a foreign national. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao5RINxi9A_exVLBUrSlf5vsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071021090847AA1r9Ja Someone in your situation should be well aware of the fact that this is simply NOT true at all!
