I plan to purchase on of these. I would greatly appreciate advice and comparisons between them.

I would like one compact enough for concealed carry, so I think this would probably rule out the 21? Also, how do the G30 and Springfield XD Compact compare in size?

Thanks.

Both are excellent choices for concealed carry. They are reliable and accurate enough to trust your life with. The important factor is how they feel in your hand.

I chose the XD to carry because I found the grip size and angle fit my hand well. Personally I find that Glocks do not point naturally for me, and that was my main reason for choosing the XD.

Your best bet is to go to a gun shop, hold and draw all of your options. See which one fits you naturally and which is closest to being perfectly on target when you draw quickly. As long as you feel comfortable with it, you have made the right decision.

As for the specifics, the two are fairly similar. The important differences, IMO are the safety system, the capacity, and a few other parts. Both have an integrated trigger safety, but the XD has an additional grip safety, similar to that on a 1911. Both have a standard magazine capacity of 10, and though you can get extended mags for the Glock, the XD has optional 13 round magazines with grip extensions that make it a full size grip. The XD extensions are comfortable and convenient. Finally there are a few parts that I prefer, such as the use of metal over plastic in the XD such as the guide rod, sights, and trigger. I also prefer three dot factory sights over the glock "U" but thats a matter of preference.

Good luck and good shooting!

I prefer the Springfield XD over Glocks. I think the XD is an all around better gun. The XD is just as reliable as the Glocks are but the XD has 3 other safeties that Glocks do not have. Both us the USA trigger safety (which I do not think is a true safety), but the XD has the grip safety (like a 1911), a striker status indicator (on back of slide) that you can visually see if the striker is in the ready to fire position, and the load indicator (on top of slide) that will visually tell you if you have a live round in the chamber.
I also like the ergonomics of the XD. It has a natural point that I do not see in Glocks, the grip is a little smaller so my hand fits better (even for the full size Tactical Models). The XD is also a little heavier so less recoil. The sights are better and easier on my eyes. For size difference follow the links I provided below...Good luck and Happy and safe shooting

Gock has been thorugh tourture tests like you would believe, and still came up shooting. I have not heard anything like this about the Croatian made Springfield XD's.

Just because it is a Springfield XD is reason enough to take it over a glock.... thats about it......
