New PC Compaq Presario SR2150 NX w/Celeron D356 proc. came with MS Vista. (yuk)
Is there anyway way that the OEM Vista license can be traded in for an XP license?
I've heard of corporate OS rolback programs. Is there one for individuals?

I know it's physically possible to boot up from an XP disc and install it over Vista to replace it but I'd like to avoid shelling out more $ just because Vista was the only choice (and it sux.)
No Unbuntu won't do in this case. Not ready for Open Source quite yet.

Your problem is the same as mine.
An OS Vista program format covers a lot of bytes. If your computer is only on Celeron, it means that configuring it would take much time as compared to an XP.
The only scenable aspect of a Vista is just the desktop that comes in a smart configuration. The internal effects, since the product is new in the market and requires memory of more than, probably 100 GB's, then your Celeron will never configure.
Ask a computer savvy friend of yours, and get a second opinion from anybody having the same problems.
Or, stick to your XP format or upgrade your computer to a Pentium 4, or still, delete unneccesry programs you don't use.
Good Luck.

I know of no such downgrade option with Microsoft.

The best that I can offer as an answer is for you to get on the phone with Microsoft and see if they have any options for you.

I have XP and Vista on 2 hard drives in a "dual boot" scenario (Vista was a free option with my Dell last December) and I'm not all that impressed with Vista. However, Service Pack 2 is supposed to be released in the "first half of 2008" if that helps you any.

Good luck!!!
