Many xians say things like "Well, something can't come from nothing, so there must be a god" or "What is the origin of all things? If you can't answer, that means there is a god".
Many people used to say the same thing about lightning or disease or earthquakes which we now have reasonable explanations for.
So my question is: Imagine someday scientists discover that empty areas of space can randomly spawn bursts of energy out of the nothingness. Let's say the energy equivalent to the formation of a star out in the middle of the galaxy where there is no gas, no matter, no dark matter, no nothing. Just some property of space/time that allows for random energy formation. Yes I'm assuming that the 300 year old laws are outdated (as they are already, we see virtual particles form all the time in empty space even as it expands faster than ever).
What will that make you think of the need for god to explain these things? Not in general, specifically for the origin of the universe.

Then IF "something comes from nothing" could be held as law and would contradict almost all other laws. The result would then be nearly every law and theory through science would be deemed false and man would be wrong once again.
Even further IF this would have been discovered; that these burst of energy and matter came from nothing, that would be a horrible assumption that there was nothing there to begin with. It could never be proven, since "nothing is in the absence of something" and how can you prove that something is NOT there?

First: Christians have confidence that God is the final authority. If He revealed eternal truths to historic prophets, then quite it somewhat is the final authority. maximum Christians even have confidence in own proposal. the sole Christians who have confidence in widely used revelation after the Bible are Mormons. 2d: in accordance to the Revelation style, the time that some thing is revealed from God is beside the point. It in basic terms has to return from God. in accordance to the Evolution style, greater moderen discoveries are in all probability to be greater precise, when you consider that progression over the years is onward and upward. So, the argument that commencing place of Species is greater precise on account that's greater moderen basically works in case you have already proved your thesis. that's a around argument. third: that's plausible to reconcile evolution with the Bible, in spite of the undeniable fact that many Christians stand up to the belief. Why could not God have brought about in basic terms the nicely suited ecosystem, radiation stages, and so on. for evolution to consequence in clever life? could not the seven days of advent be symbolic of the perfect volume of time, despite that could nicely be? Fourth: Evolutionary concept, Creationist concept, and blended theories all have unanswered questions. Creationists don't be attentive to the way God created the international, and Evolutionists don't be attentive to why there are so few evidences of the "lacking hyperlinks." Neither can quite tutor itself for specific.

When people see a light in the sky and don't know what it is, many of them immediately assume it is beings from another world.
When someone has a dream that seems later to have been somewhat premonitive, they believe they have psychic powers.
When people hear something go bump in the night, many immediately think it is disembodied spirits.
When a coincidence occurs, many people immediately believe there are supernatural forces at work.
When people can't explain how the Universe came into being, they immediately invent a god. And the inability of scientists to rationally explain that one-time phenomenon, which is on a scale far outside of our experience, the believers claim that is proof that their god exists.
Like that. (Oops! You wanted to hear from fundamentalists. My bad.)

I don't think we will ever be able to fully understand the origin of the universe. And even if scientists proved that energy could come out of nothing, I don't think that would change any real christians belief in God. All they would have to say is that he set things up to happen that way and you are back at square one. Nothing will ever be able to prove there is no God.

I don't doubt that somewhere in the universe there is such a place where "empty areas of space can randomly spawn bursts of energy out of the nothingness" . I don't doubt there are other dimensions and other universes. There are so many possibilities that our limited understanding of physics is just beginning to scratch. My GOD is very big.

The entire canned food industry, and thus the whole world (yes, the whole WORLD revolves around Chef Boyardee!) is based upon the fact that SOMETHING cannot magically spawn from NOTHING; it must have a root or it must have always been there.

If it's the energy you are perceiving, you are still left with the question of what caused the energy to burst. If you stop there, you are basically calling the "nothingness", God.

What is an "xian"?? Would you suggest to scientists that they put billions of little jars with nothing in them, set apart some place and wait to see if one of those little jars would produce a "little bang" which would produce a little universe in it? If they could produce a "little bang" from nothing, it would go a long way towards giving credibility to the idea of a "big bang". If they aren't doing that, don't they believe in it themselves?
