I object to your tone !
Big Issue vendors are working. They are selling a magazine which they have to purchase and they earn the difference between what they buy and sell for just any retail store does.
My wish for you is to have that experience first hand one day. You wouldn't like the abuse or the haggeling from the likes of people like yourself.
I have respect for these people because they are making an effort and they are helping themselves. I don't have respect for people who take benefits from the government when they can work.
Get a life and become compassionate. Give the Big Issue vendor as much as you can for his magazine. Take the trouble to read the magazine its a good read.

NO you should not haggle over the price of it.
You should think very hard to yourself next time you pay you rent or mortgage out of YOUR well earned money that one day your bl@omin job might not be there anymore, and you may not have any money, and you may end up having your house reposessed, or get in arrears with your rent & lobbed out as a result of that... you see my dear MATE NO-ONE is immune to a situation like this happening to them. It can happen to the best of us. AT SOME POINT IN YOUR LIFE>
So next time you feel the need to get on this huge moral horse of yours, Id check its got legs if I was you....
Have a look at what the people who are involved with this magazine actually do for others out there less fortunate than you. The ones who sell these actually BUY them from the supplier first, so money they sell them for is merely replacing that cost. They, by selling this worthwhile BIG ISSUE are actually opening our eyes to how the other half have to live...in the UK of today.
Just thank your lucky stars that you are NOT in that position... and then start praying that it doesnt come to you too quickly, cos as sure as night follows day,,,,,,,

people who sale the big issue can't be layabouts because they are standing for hours trying to sell the mag so your first part of your question is wrong however it is wrong also to haggle and try to take advantage of the situation went you know a person is trying to do something to help themselves out of a bad situation
p.s. i think you must for been born with a silver spoon or have an attitude problem

These "layabouts" as you call them are given the mags to sell to earn money for their food and lodgings, What a horrible person you are .Do you kick people when their down? these are genuine homeless people, and I all ways give the £1,and dont take the mag so they make a little extra,All ways remember, they are someones Dad/son/brother.and their but for the grace of god!!!

err just because theyre homeless doesnt mean they are layabouts. some people are made homeless through no fault of their own. ive volunteered in a soup kitchen many times, and believe me some of them have amazing stories to tell. they just need a helping hand to get themselves sorted , so please dont haggle, . selling these books is their only way to get a meal. i hope none of your family ever become homeless, if they did youd be sorry.

I don't think it's fair to call them layabouts. Most of them do it to get back on there feet again. Not everyone is down and out from choice so have a heart....

No it's not right - its a fixed price - like most things in Britain.
And they are not layabouts - they are working.

No, haggling is not the way foward!
I saw a guy last week selling the big issue. He had on a Hugo Boss leather jacket that looked brand new! Needless to say, I am now a Big Issue Seller and well on my way to a new wardrobe! (joking)

Who says being homeless makes you a layabout? With house prices soaring and increasingly unaffordable, it doesn't take much to make someone homeless.
