Yesterday I had to have fillings, and my dentist gave me five shots of novacaine. Since then, the numbness has went away, but my face will NOT stop itching.
Everyone i've asked said it's not possible, but I was still wondering if it is?

i had a dentist hit a nerve when i was young. the "freezing" lasted for over 2 weeks and when the feeling came back it was so itchy it was painful. give it a bit and you'll be fine.

Itching is listed as a possible side effect for novacaine, but it's unlikely that you're experiencing an allergic reaction. If you were allergic, you'd have developed breathing problems shortly after having received the first injection.

yes you can be allergic to Novocain, because i am living proof.I get chills and shivers whenever i get Novocain, and the dentist has to cover me in blankets and monitor my vital signs, so every time i go to the dentist now they give me a mild sedative other than any thing that ends with caine.

I really don't think it's because of the novocaine, but I could be wrong.

Maybe it's just a side effect?

I can't see why not! After all, it's possible for anybody to be allergic to anything anyway!
