The first thing that God gave free will to were the angels. Lucifer got the idea that he was going to take God's place in heaven. So, God through him out along with the 1/3 of the angels that he was boss over.
God took the free will away from all the rest of the angels in heaven, And gave that free will to Adam and Eve. That is way we have free will today. Our free will lets us make our own choices.
Lucifer and his 1/3 angels are the only angels that still have free will.

I, even when I was a christian, had this belief. I got in a lot of trouble for voicing this. Lucifer "The Morning Star" gods most loyal servant did not disobey or even try to overthrow god. Like all life you most have opposites Yin and Yang, Light and Dark, Hot and Cold, and Good and Evil. There is no hell we cannot know good without knowing evil. Our brains work associatively. If we do not have the opposite we can not know the difference and choose the right path. Lucifer is still gods Morning star.

Pride and envy caused lucifer to rebel.. Envy is not something that is learned it is a desire. lucifer desired 2 be like GOD. Where doe it say that GOD was their teacher?? God created the angels for a purpose just like he did for mankind. lucifer just got beside himself when he beheld the glory of GOD and thought that he could have that. (little did he know that is not possible). GOD will be glorified in all things and that incident will all unfold during the final judgement.

These kinds of questions are important to remember whenever some Christian tries to convince you they're the one being logical and scientific. This belief is based on irrational FAITH, nothing else. And it is a strange one, i have to say. Seriously, setting aside the issue of the truth of it for a minute, it sounds like something a child (or an ancient myth obsessed culture) might come up with. I wonder why?
If i were to tackle it, it would depend on whether Satan rebelled before or after Adam and Eve sinned (one person said after, but i usually hear before). It's weird though, to even believe that there were angels before the first humans, that almost implies polytheism. And certainly modern belief in Satan as a supernatural force is polytheistic.

It actually has nothing to do with God being perfect or not. A perfect being can still grant free will to angels and angels will do what they will do with it. Using a more "earthly" example, a parent teaches and imparts values to a child. Because the child has a mind and volition of its own, the child will make choices; some consistent with parental ideals and values, some not. Free will involves choice. Some choices will be consistent with God's will. Other choices will not be consistent with God's will. You do not need to learn "rebellion." It is a natural tendency and one which exists in all manner of creatures. God consists of the full range of experience, not just those deemed "good" or "moral."

I think
Since God created everything,He has control of everything.
Therefore, God must have allowed Lucifer to rebel.
Probably God want to demote Lucifer, and didn't want to come across as being vengeful.
Probably there are much more to the conspiracy, we just
don't know.
Politics are dirty business

Sin came into the world as soon as Adam and Eve ate of the apple so that showed Lucifer how to disobey God.

Lucifer was jealous of you. He could not understand how he is far superior and stronger than you and God chose you over him.

This is the truth. Sin is a mystery. There is no good explanation to how evil could originate from a sinless God. But it did.
