Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
It is clear in the beginning of the statement, "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words...".

It seems that foot washing was a custom when Jesus walked the earth. Just as His feet were being washed at Martha's house by her sister Mary. I think it might of been a sign of respect. Also it is humbling to wash someones feet. It might be that shaking off the dust off their feet, was to symbolize, this. Therefore since this people will not humble themselves to the Lord and rejected the good news, go ahead and shake off this people who will not humble themselves to receive Jesus.

It means that there will be people that won't reason with you and they insist they know, but with out testing, to talk to someone like this is like talking to a clashing symbol as in music.
So shake off the dust and depart to people that will reason with you. For the ones who won't there part is with the hypocrites.
There are two things before us, either life or death. If we choose life we will humble and listen. To gain life God put a requirement on us. John 17:3. To know someone you keep seeking his company, by asking questions and allowing the scriptures to answer them. keep testing daily to see that you have the right way.

Remember, one of your Christian brothers or sisters will most likely call at that home in the near future. If you meet someone who is rude, put forth special effort to show kindness. Do not raise your voice or frown, but speak in a calm manner. A kind Christian does not want to provoke the householder into a battle of words. (Matthew 10:11-14)

His words are so rejected you leave that place and kick the dust from your feet..Don't even think about it any more, don't even let the dust cling to you. It's over forget it. It's like throwing pearls before swine. They don't appreciate it, it's a waste of time ...

It is pretty much showing that you did all you could, but now you must move on.

You preach the Gospel to the person, and if they reject it, move on to another person.
