I'm an atheist, and I just wondered how other atheists would feel if it was actually proved beyond doubt. Forget how, just that it was proved to everyone's satisfaction.

Would you be pleased for instance?

James, how does that answer the question. That's almost bordering on spamming.

My apologies, when I refer to 'it' I mean God (please don't get into it about what God.....just a God)

Hi Sosgez, thanks for the thought. If you don't want to answer then don't bother. Just go back to the fantastic questions you must obviously asked.

If what was proven?

You did not specify what "it" is...

Addition: Thanks for specifying...

If undenyable proof of the existance of a deity was proven I would believe that deity existed...

Whether or not I would chose to worship said deity is a totally different issue...

Hey Mancloud! I am an atheist, and I had no trouble understanding your question, whatsoever! And aren't I just the smug one? Sorry, guys!
Since I am really new at this atheism belief, and I switched sides because of so many inconsistencies? I don't think that there IS proof to be had!
I don't believe that in a god that can 'create' itself!
When I was a Mormon, we at least believed that god came from somewhere, even if it was a galaxy far, far away! It was easier to think of him as ''there'', instead of hanging around the universe, waiting for something, until he created the earth!
But, no! I don't think he exists! there are just too many ''Whys"

As an atheist, I am highly confident in my judgment in that 'it' doesn't exist, so the prospect of 'it' being proved is out of the question.

I am not sure I would be pleased though!

Btw: Question is a tad vague! That was in the nicest possible way - sorry... Thnx for the update.

Oh, and sosgez, with some fairly gopping questions of your own, I don't think your in a great position to critisise. Also, I wonder if you would get less of your precious points if you didn't give crap critical answers. Sosgez - feel free to give me a thumbs down!

Mancloud - thank you!

Of course I'm not in control of the universes ( ha ha) and I'm not exactly an atheist anyhow. So whatever there is, is fine by me. I just hope that whatever or whoever the creative force may be has a lot more common sense and compassion for us miserable little human beings than we give him/her/it credit for. Atheist or religious fanatic,we all see through a glass darkly. We just guess at who and what we are, and why we are here. And don't let anyone try to tell you differently.

How I felt would have to depend on what God turned out to be, if it was the God of for instance The Bible I would be horrified, I could never have respect for a God which is prejudiced against it's own creation.
If however God turned out to be that of my imagination, I would be absolutely in ecstasy, everything for everyone forever.

I am not an athiest but an agnostic.

if god was proved to be real in the physical sense. I would probably have a hard time accepting that it wasn't just a microchip inside my brain planted by a christian telling me this. If the god is anything like the orthodox religions tell us then I would feel horrified that god would have created a universe which has given us freedom to kill hate etc. and limited us in other ways. e.g. not being able to explore distant galaxies at the speed of light. i would ask god if he could change that about his creation.

If the Christian God was proven , I would be absolutely delighted. I could rest assure that the Evil will be punished and the Good rewarded .

On a personal note I would like to be in the audience when Jehovah Judges my 2 Christians wives , the 1st for her adultery. My 2nd Christian wife would have to answer for her Adultery , Perjury , Deception , Thievery , Prostitution , Lying and Cheating ... to name a few of her more endearing Christian attributes ... not to mention the emotional blackmail and foul language .

In summary it would give me Great satisfaction to know that the Christian God was Proven. On my Judgement day I would take my Bible in hand and remind him what he said . LOL !

If God were proved to exist then I would probably believe. BUT like a few of the others have stated I refuse to worship it
Especially the monstrous god in the Bible

God's existence cannot be proven because it is non-existent.
If god's existence was conclusively disproved we would be hit by anarchy. this is because most religious folk only behave themselves because they're afraid that the old bearded man in the sky might punish them. so without anything to believe in previously religious people may begin running amok and acting like a pack of animals plunging the world back into the dark ages.

Mancloud. I'm a christian so sorry, I know this isn't directed at me. I just want to say what an interesting and adult question this is. If the question was the other way round I would have to think really hard.

In the highly unlikely event that "god" was proved to exist, I would still be pissed off at the thought of followers of a psycho, bigotted, vengeful "god" and would gladly go to hell than spend eternity with a schizo weirdo (and his schizo weirdo followers!)
