This is a question that gets put across YA answers in a variety of ways almost on a daily basis, however there is invariably no meaning to 'vista sucks'.
Upon the release of Vista for the first few months of its release I was doing nothing but singing its praises, you only need to look at my profile to see that is the case.
However things have changed somewhat :
1 : The updates that are being released have made Vista very much more unstable than when it was released, rather odd seeing as I would have thought updates were supposed to improve things, but not in this case it seems. I still work with Vista on occasion and the updating facility is very much turned off.
2 : I have discovered the wonders of the debian based Linux open source releases, no need to shell out any cash and you can achieve, with a little patience, graphics on par or exceeding that of Vista.
Summary :
It is not a case of 'vista sucks' , its just that many people were expecting so much more, afterall Vista has turned out to be XP with a glamorous makeover.
Oh and the price, inhibitive to many. Many of the cosmetic applications could have been applied to XP, so you would then at least have kept the reliabilty.
We can only speculate if it had been XP 2007, but I am sure if it had been then things would have been truly awesome.

Hi, I think Vista is better than any other operating system from Microsoft ever released. If u have a high performance pc then its awesome. Plus it won't be long that most new Windows programs will be for Windows Vista. I hope I helped.
Good Luck!

Ive had vista for over a month now and i cant find fault with it. In fact when i move to my old laptop XP is starting to look dated just like windows 98 looked when XP came out. as far as drivers go i have been able to update everything i have by using the manufacturers website. vista is here to stay as its almost impossible to buy a new computer without Vista being loaded

I agree...I just got a new computer and I was so excited but now I hate it. Most of the old software I have doesn't work on it. I cant even get it to connect to my printer. Also, vista totaly slows down my computer. This computer has slightly better specs than my old computer (XP) but runs super slow. Also, vista's menus and fileing sytems are a lot more confusing to use than xp's where. I don't like vista.

At the moment, it's a wash. It has some nice features for the computer-illiterate, but it was released way too early, and should've been tested more thoroughly against different platforms, other software, and different hardware configurations.
By the time they have it "patched" to where it works right, they'll be releasing the next OS.

Yes it is. Microsoft wants control of your computer. Vista is the latest attempt.

I wouldn't buy it unless I had no other choice. You are right. A lot of software isn't compatible with it. Plus, it is a resource hog. Even with 1GB of RAM and a Pentium 4 processor, it still isn't all that fast or efficient. So I'll stick with Windows XP until my current computer dies.

That's what I've heard. I would never buy something with new software until it has been consumer tested for 1-2 years.
All these people who jump on the new release bandwagon and just HAVE to have the new stuff the very day that it is released amaze me.
