That's called "lying" and establishes someone as untrustworthy.

Seems to work well in politics for no comprehensible reason. In any other field it is the hallmark of a loser.

insecure. feels the need to prove himself to others, when no one else really cares. wants attention, or d) all of the above. poor guy, he just wants a friend.
