first off im not being biased toward christians here and saying that they are the only religion guilty of this, and im not saying that every christian is guilty of this. BUT there are those of you that look down upon other religions, even though they are equally farfetched as yours. and actually sometimes you look down on other religions and you dont even know anything about them. you will believe that moses parted seas and that a dead man rose, but you wont believe science is possible? or maybe that another being brought us here long ago? im saying why do some christians look down upon religions that are equally farfetched or even less farfetched? for one second you cant say christianity isnt farfetched, cause a man parting a sea, a man rising from the dead, and the many other stories of the bible that i do not know, are farfetched. its like reading a fantasy novel or something. christianity is built on faith, not evidence. so please lets hear your answers.

I never said MY religion was better than anyone else's.
All I ask is that I be treated with some modicum of respect and that I not be told that I am a worthless scumbag because I believe. There are SOME atheists who have said as much about all Christians.

Jesus is the only way to Heaven, John 14:6, and there are no other gods. 1 Timothy 2:5; James 2:19.
My choice is personal and is not equivalent to being a devoted sports fan where "my" team is the best - that is subjective and emotional. No, this has to do with truth. If something is true, it does not matter who is for or against it - it is still true.
One day, everyone will agree with this, only it will be too late for some. Philippians 2:9-11. The evidence is all around and within you. Romans 1:18-20.
satriani_g3_03:
(a) Don't ask questions if you don't want to hear the answers.
(b) My religion is based upon faith in Jesus and God, as revealed in the Bible. God's Word teaches that Heaven is the best place imaginable and only those whose names are in the Book of Life will get in. I certainly am not looking down on others, just trying to follow what I believe and, since I believe it, hope that everyone will be saved and get to Heaven.
(c) As for citing verses, the Bible is a higher authority and I like to attribute truth to God. It is the basis for my answer and I merely made that known. After all, you asked why.
(d) I'm sorry that you are so hostile to the people from whom you solicited these answers. It's easy to ask questions and hard to provide good answers. I wish you the best.

you have asked for a serious answer, I will give you one,
men, scholars in many cases, have undertaken to discredit, debunk the bible and put it away for all time as a work of fantasy.
One such scholar was Josh McDowell. He undertook a personal crusade to destroy once and for all, the bible and everything associated with it.
His book, evidence that demands a vertict, is in a 2 volume work.
you can read it, you can check the historical (not biblical) data that he found and verify it.
josh found himself having to admit that the bible stands the onslaught of the best, and on this site it has been at best, canned critism.
you read the book, look at the evidence and you decide
christianity is a relationship, nothing more. What makes it superior to anything else is life, forgiveness of sin, and right relations with God.
the ball is in your court, eternity lasts forever

The Truth of God......Satan has effectively deceived humanity throughout history by influencing human beings to cut themselves off from God's guidance. He leads us to want to do things our own way, to rely on ourselves rather than God as the ultimate authority.
The apostle Paul describes the results of rejecting God: ". . . Since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.
"They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them" (Romans 1:28-32, NIV).
Through hundreds of corrupt religions he has convinced billions of people to worship the sun, moon and stars, animals, nature, deceased ancestors, imaginary gods and goddesses and a bewildering variety of other things—or nothing at all. Even among the many varieties of traditional Christianity we find people divided and bickering over who and what God is, His purpose for us, what He wants us to do and how we should live. The devil has done an effective job of confusing people as to what the Bible really says.
Satan doesn't care which of these groups people fall into. Whether they believe in no God at all, accept and worship a false god or are deceived into a false view of the true God and His plan for us, Satan still has them where he wants them—"alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart" (Ephesians 4:18).
This helps us better understand what God means when He God tells us that the devil "deceives the whole world" (Revelation 12:9). Paul explains that "the god of this age" has blinded those "who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them" (2 Corinthians 4:4).
In one of His parables Jesus explains that, as soon as some people hear God's truth, "the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved" (Luke 8:12). Satan will stop at nothing to keep people blinded to the fullness of God's truth. The result, as Jesus explained, is that "the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it," and "the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14, NRSV)........http://www.ucg.org/booklets/GK/

Most Chirstans are Chirstans because their parents told them to or a friend. Some converted while having a better backround. Some believe what their pastors tell them and the pastors tell them all other views are evil.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him.
You aren't getting there any other way. You can never be good enough and you can't earn your way.

It's not that we just act like that it's just a part of us, because we are not supposed to be ashamed of the gospel, and so people see that in us, as trying to be better than anyone else!

Jesus said He is the only way to heaven. The only way to heaven and out of eternal hell is to believe that Jesus, who is God, died for your sins on the cross and rose again.
