By definition, Atheists believe there is no God or are against the thought of a God. The word can be broken down "a" meaning without or absent, and "theist" which means belief in a deity(s) or a God(s).

Atheists don't believe in Gods or religions in general.

Reason.
Now, some Christians would have you believe we worship Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. And some of us seem to back it up by religiously quoting them. Well, this isn't the case. They just happen to have some of the best evidence against God. So we don't believe in anything. In fact, I'm not even sure I believe in you.

I am the Atheist God. But they don't believe in me, either. I have thought about wreaking down my terrible wrath, but since they don't believe, it won't do any good. So, WORSHIP ME, my unbelieving children!
Man, am I screwed.

They don't, sugar. One atheist I know does not believe in ANY kind of higher power. I once challenged him by asking how did we come about, who comtrols the weather, etc. His response was something like "Who knows; it could all be biology."

I was never an atheist/pagan/agnostic, but I wanted to answer your question.

In Greek, a=no & theos=gods, so a true atheist accepts no gods at all. I see no evidence that any exist. I see much evidence that many do not exist.
