Well most petstores sell puppies that are supposedly from a breeder and they can sell them for a lot more, but an adoption fee isn't worth that much. For instance there is a puppy in a puppy store called puppy's in love down the street, they are selling this puppy for $4,950 (actual price) but an adoption fee is only around $25-$50, they wouldn't be making the same amount of profit. I like your idea about writing petstores about them selling puppy mill puppies, but at the same time you don't want your cry to fall on deaf ears. Maybe you could get your friends to join in as well and all write a separate letter to each of the petstores, that way they aren't just getting your letter they're getting several. I hope you make a difference, its sad how people could allow dogs to go through what they do at puppy mills. I hope you are able to make a difference, good luck and take care. ADD- You could try handing out fliers at the door with pictures of puppy mills as people walk in, that way they see what a dog goes through to get them a "pure bred" puppy. ADD- At puppies in love they give their puppies to a no kill shelter and have them adopted out there. I'm not saying that all of them do this, but a friend of mine works for them driving the puppies to the no kill shelters. So I do know that this is something good that this one dose, even though it doesn't make up for all the bad they do.

Here are the steps!

1) Wash the puppy and take is photo.
2) Download it on to the computer.
3) Make a for sale sign with your phone number or adress and detales
4) Go around to corner stores and ask if you can hang up a sign or to in the store
5) Wait a few days, then put up a few more signs
6) Wait until people start making offers on the puppy
7) Pick one of your best offers

hi there PLEASE take my advice on this , as i am a registered breeder . contact the kennel club, not sure which country your from ;
america- www.akc.org
england : www.the-kennel-club.org.uk:
or alternatively google " the kennel club" to find the right one for your country.
the kennel club enables dog owners to register their pets with them , which enables them to be advertised with the kennel club , the kennel club attracts responsible dog owners , and the system of the kennel club is set up to ensure that the dog will be sold to responsible dog owners and more importantly decent people. on the website there is a contact us option or customer service option, telephone them or email them for more advice on how to sell your dog to vetted people. the kennel club is a very well known way to sell your puppy, so your puppy will be advertised well, and more importantly it is the most responsible way of advertising your dog and ensuring he/she gets a good home. dont advertise your dog in local papers , or shop windows , be responsible and look after the welfare of your puppy, and also make sure you ask an average price for the breed or preferably more than the average price, research how much your breed of dog is worth, and i would advise to charge that amount or more. anybody will have anything if it is cheap enough,!!!give your puppy a good home by contacting the kennel club . that puppys future is in your hands .
goodluck xx

Where did you get the pup? If you got it from a breeder, I'm almost sure they would want to be considered first. Friends, family the local newspaper.

Take it back to the breeder so a good, permanent home can be found for it or call a rescue group who can find it a good home. It's a shame that people do not realize animals are living creatures who feel pain, fear, neglect, and abandonment. They are members of our families and should not just be sold off or given away like outgrown clothes.

Sounds like you're in the realm of "backyard breeder" - breeding dogs just for the money, rather than considering what's best for the dog or to help the breed. Dogs are living things, not money tickets. If all you want to do is get rid of the dog then contact Poodle Rescue. http://adopt-a-poodle.1-800-save-a-pet.com/

Otherwise, you're in it for the money and not the animal.

Carefully. Please make sure the puppy will be well taken care of. He should not be placed in a home where there are small children (under 5 yrs)

You can run an ad in the local paper, put flyers up at the vets offices. You can run an ad on Craigslist for free but you can't "sell" you dog there, you have to put it up for adoption with a nominal "adoption fee" usually less than $200 even though there is no set amount that is listed as too much as a rule.

First be sure all vet care is up to date and the dog is healthy before placing it. I would try local penny savers first before the internet and if there is not much response then try more expensive ads. Be sure your buyers will be good responsible pet owners as well.
