Does anyone else here have a beagle? I have a 10 month old Beagle and she is the sweetest thing ever! If you arent sure what kind of dog to get, get a beagle!!!!

Yup! I have a purebred tri-colored beagle named Niko. He is now 2yrs old and often stubborn as hell. But if he wants to learn something that interests him then you have his full attention. Sure he can't sit or shake a paw but I can let him go in field off leash and do his hunting thing or run for miles. If I give him a whistle, he ALWAYS comes back. You HAVE to train you beagle to come back. As well you have to have patience to train a beagle...if you don't then its NOT the dog for you. I have more patience then my beagle at times and it drives him crazy. I have never owned a beagle till now. I can honestly say this won't be that last time I own one. He fits everything that I was looking for in a dog: gets along well with other dogs and cats, pleasant disposition, enjoys spending time with master/mistress and other family members and LOVES kids and barks ONLY to let me know someone is near the house (If you know a beagle that barks all the time....BLAME THE OWNER NOT THE BEAGLE).

I agree. I had two beagles (one just recently passed away) and they are the kindest most loving dogs. They can be a bit high maintenance because of the howling and they can be destructive. But all in all they are wonderful dogs. My 14 month old daughter loves our male beagle so much and she misses our female beagle.
There are some great full breed and mixed breeds dogs in many shelters, so if you are looking for a good family dog. try looking at a beagle.

No Idon't like teh breed and I would never get a beagle or suggest to anyone to get a beagle.

i have yet to come across a beagle i like... they either bark too much, run away, or pee on everything. i must admit that they are very cute though. it is possible that these are just flaws caused by improper training but i believe some dogs are just prone to certain behaviors. but i guess everyone likes different things and different breeds

My mom had a half beagle half terrier mix. His name was Smokey. He won second place in an ugly dog contest

every beagle i have ever met was very very very sweet until you let it loose and the WOOSH gone following its nose.. it is a hunting dog first and foremost
