You shouldn't get baptized until you fully understand why you are doing so, first. Second, you must get baptized correctly, it does matter! Third, if you aren't going to do it for God first then yourself then don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See Acts 2:38 for the plan of salvation, it is that simple. You couls lookup upci.org. there are things about baptism, plan of salvation, 60 questions about the godhead(it;s awesome). Just look around. I'm sure it will clear it right up. But, yes, being baptized as an infant means nothing. They have no sin to wash away. You do. Study it, Then go be washed clean in the mighty name of Jesus!!!!!! God Bless!!!!!

Jesus told us when He ascended to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit... (Matthew).
So? When you have confessed Jesus Christ your Lord & Savior & believe in your heart He raised from the dead. Then you are born of His Spirit & become Christ Disciple. You renew your mind in His Love, Word & Spirit.
It (water baptism) is an act of obedience to Jesus. And it means that the old man went down & died. Sins washed away in His redeeming blood. And the new man raised up in Christ. Sitting in high places with Christ. The new man is the spiritual man. The first man is born of water & is flesh & the new man is born from above & is spiritual. The spiritual birth is everlasting life.
It is written in the bible to not forsake anyone to be baptized. It is an act of faith & an act of obedience & also there is a special blessing in it. Being baptized as a baby, really is just the parents doing & not your own decision. And if parents force their children, it is the parents decision & not the childs either. So? It really isn't because of the childs faith in Jesus Christ & doesn't mean anything except that the person got baptized (wet).
Also, when you believe & are baptized you can claim the verse that writes. Whosoever believes & is baptized (In the Name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit) will be saved. He who believes not will perish.
Our Church has an explaination on water baptism. http://www.riveroflifefellowship.org . Click on 'about' then 'water baptism'.
Also, I think the only reason you want to be water baptized is because the Holy Spirit is leading you to be baptized. And sometimes a person is also filled with the Holy Spirit as they come out of the water. I know this happened to one person who had been baptized into a mormon church but left that church & couldn't receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit until she was water baptized at the River of Life. Then she came out of the water also filled with the Spirit.
So? Just obey God. That is what is most important. I believe 'now' is the right time for you to be water baptized.

Wow. Those are a lot of deep questions. I'll try my best to answer them for you.
I was baptized as a baby and again when I was 21. I was as a baby because my mom felt it was the right thing to do. I decided to do it myself because I wanted to express my love for God openly. That's really what baptism is for, as far as I know, to publicly express your commitment to God. I knew I was ready to take that step in my walk with him at that time. I'm sure a lot of people are forced into it, and that's really sad.
The thing is you don't have to be baptized in order to be saved. You can still go to heaven and have a intimate relationship with God without ever being baptized. I think it helps but it's not necessary.
I find it hard to go to church now as well. I think a lot of churches are trying to bring people in for the wrong reason and I've seen that first hand. Now for the most part I read the Bible alone or with a friend and pray every day. I don't like church too much either.

Baptism- Galatians 3:27 "baptized into Christ. . . put on Christ"-- so where are we before we are baptized? in or out?
Rom. 6:4 "baptized into His death"-- how can His blood (which was shed at His death) save us if we haven't been 'baptized into His death'?
Church- Eph. 5:23 "He is the Savior of the body" Eph. 1:22-23 "the church, which is His body" So give some more thought to the importance of the Lord's church. Emphasis- the Lord's church and not a church created by men. You can read about His church in the NT. Study, pray, and find a group of people who teach and do what the Scriptures teach about baptism and other subjects.

I was baptized when I was young. I re-dedicated my life back to Jesus about 2 years ago and I am living a christian life now. I am truly walking with God and trying to keep the ten commandments. I was baptized about 3 months ago. You only get baptized when you are truly saved and are walking with God. Getting baptized is your way & Gods way of washing away your sins and is commenting yourself truely to God.

The bible tells you to go to church. Find one that teaches from the bible and attend that one. If you want to rededicate your life to Christ then go ahead and be baptized again. You have to go to church to do that.

Repentance is the meaning of baptism. Baptism is only the outward form and public acknowledgment of this. You can be baptized anytime, as your conscience determines.
