Try not to wear jeans because, like someone already said, they're quite inappropriate.
If you're female, why not wear some nice trousers to add a formal touch. Wear these with a flattering top, but make sure tis isn't too informal. If not, a nice dress would do and you can always cover you arm [if uncomfortabe] with a cute shrug.

If you're a guy, smart black trousers [not jeans] would be better.

I forgot to say this before, ask other guests what they're wearing, so you get a feel of how others will be dressed and to save you from embarassment!

If it isnt specified that its a black-tie affiar, then you should be okay.

I would definitely suggest wearing black versus white... no one should wear white (or any really light color for that matter) to a wedding... let the bride stand out in the crowd... so I think the black would look fine, especially if its a fall/winter wedding

You might want to ask around and see what time of attire others are wearing (if all the women are in gowns and the men in tuxedos, you might stand out)... but either way, the bride and groom will appreciate your presence.

Don't stress out about it... wear what you think looks nice. Unless you show up in a torn t-shirt and blue jeans, no one will really notice anything

Hope this helps!

unless it's a completely country style wedding NO jeans are SMART jeans to wear - if it's casual wedding setting, then try a pair of chinos and a dress shirt open collar. Better to be over-dressed than under - trust me - you don't want to be labelled the guy that came inappropriately dressed to a wedding!

Well, that reallt depends on the formality. Most weddings around where I live (in Montana), jeans are very appropriate. The last few weddings I have been to the men in the wedding party have worn black jeans.
So you know who's wedding it is, and where the event is, so will it be appropriate? If still in doubt, ask someone else who is going what they are wearing.

What kind of wedding is it? Is it formal or in the evening? Is it a casual backyard wedding?

I wouldn't suggest wearing jeans at all! Even if they are "smart" (don't know what that refers to) black jeans. What kind of shirt? You were pretty vague with that, is it a botton up shirt, a t-shirt, a polo shirt?

If you need to buy something to wear you could always go to a goodwill and pick something up really cheap!

I don't know what kind of wedding it is, but black jeans don't seem appropriate. If it's a casual dress wedding, why not black trousers and a cloloured shirt - not a T shirt or polo. if you still have doubts ask the groom or best man what the dress code is. Whatever you do don't upset the bride - it could be life changing!

I know how you feel its hard and expensive to get the perfect outfit for a wedding.

I would advise no don't wear them, and for this reason, if you go and feel under dressed you wont have a good day. everyone makes more effort at weddings so i say, borrow or slash out on something new - maybe you can wear it again at a Christmas night out..

I think the fact you asked the question mean your not sure your self..

Spoil yourself honey and have a good day xx

don't wear jeans to a wedding
try this: a nice pair of dress pants and a matching button up dress shirt.
