ok...i want my bedding to look like this: http://store.delias.com/item.do?categoryID=1576&itemID=47851&sizeFilter=&colorFilter=&brandFilter= and i'm gonna make something like this: http://www.pbteen.com/products/p2395/index.cfm?pkey=caccwal that will sort of match the bedding (with the musical theme and stuff). i was wondering what color i should paint my walls. i was thinking about leaving them white. and then painting like a 12'' wide pink (same as the bedding) stripe around the middle of the walls. and then putting like 3'' wide light green stripes right above/below the pink stipe. but leaving like one inch of white between each stripe. do you think that would look good?? if not, what do you think would look good?? also, what is a good brand of paint to use?

I actually think your idea is fine, but perhaps without the green stripes. But if you have some green in the other, then it might work just fine.

When you go to the paint store, the people there can help you with the best paints available. Pretty much, the more expensive ones are better and are worth the extra cost. And as you can see, there are plenty of opinions as to which are best, meaning that there are many that will work just fine. I used Behr last time and was happy with it. I think it was called Behr. Moore paints are good too.

A lot of it depends on the flooring - is that dark or light, colored or neutral?

The stripe idea does sound nice. However, against a pure white background, even a light color will look darker and heavier than it would elsewhere. So you'll have very strong shapes competing in your room: big candy pink dots, black-on-white notes, squares in one part of the wall and strong (candy pink plus green) stripes in another.

I think with so much high-contrast graphic stuff going on, the room might get visually too busy.

My suggestion: Paint the lower part of the wall (up to chair rail or windowsill level) a very light, chalky gray or mint green - and leave the top part white. (Finish with a real chair rail in glossy white if that suits the room.)

I always take Dulux paints because they go on smoothly, cover extremely well and are very durable.

Keep your room a light and airy color, and use accent colors with pillows, bedding, furniture upholstery etc. Your room will look larger and have a certain 'classic' quality.

The best paint to use is either Benjamin Moore (my favorite) or Para paint. Select a velvet sheen, (higher gloss than flat, but not as glossy as semi-gloss).

1] decide what colors to use for accessories and the bulletin board, and paint the stripes that color [ green, blue, yellow, gray ].
2] make the squares in the board - pink, white, black, and the
color you want.
3] use Behr paint - only kind my family will use.
4] make curtains pink, or pink and white, with lt. green tiebacks.
5] buy small accessories in white, pink, black, and light green - lamps, vases, ornaments, throw pillows, flowerpots, candles/holders.

To me the assessoriy color looks aqua----not green so be careful to have a sample of the themes you have picked before you buy your paint. My suggestion is to take the samples to the paint store and get a professional opinion before you buy anything. There are lots and lots of good paint....Sherman Williams, Behr, and multitude of others. Good luck!
