I think a lot of us find friendship and entertainment here.
I do think there is such a thing as spending too much time here and I may be close to that.

True, this is a time-waster and sometimes the answers people give make me fear for the gene pool (or at least for our educational system). Nevertheless, it's also a cheap source of amusement, and there are those questions and answers here and there that really make it worthwhile.
Is there anything wrong with using this site as an escape? Guess it depends on what you're escaping from. Boredom? No problem. Responsibility? Making something of your life? Well, that might not be so good.

Yes. There's something wrong with that. People who are so pathetic as to have nothing more to do than take care of their 2 year old and then check their email are miserable, worthless sacks of ambulating guts. If we were functional human beings, we'd be out doing something other than wasting time on Y!A. Thanks for kicking us in the butt. We really needed that.

You probably weren't talking about me. Or maybe you were. I don't know. It is an escape in a way... just like everything else is an escape of some sort right now. I don't care if there's anything right OR wrong with it. I don't care much about much right now.

Waaaaay too many !
Life has become boring,people don't have to do hard work anymore...they now have machines to do work for them...
There are tons of fun stuff to do...
People are becoming lazy more than ever...
It's the end :)
...Just kidding...
I think this is a pretty good escape plan...to get away from the harsh real world...
And you must...seeing how the world has become...limited...
People fail to express individuality...I think this is a great problem...
People are being thought to act as sheep...
And here,on Answers...they are asked to be individual...which brings new light to them...perhaps Y/A and similar forums are the best thing in the world...currently...

I think there are many reasons people use this site, and escape is most likely one of them. I suppose using it that way for a short time to get through something is okay, but for long-term escape, it probably isn't a good idea.

It's rainy and cold. My alternatives this afternoon are to watch daytime TV or answer questions on-line. Television is little more than persistent oppressive advertising. I can still manage to avoid the commercial messages on Yahoo! Answers. If that's escape, then I'm guilty.

Nothing wrong with entertainment watchng T V or on here its all an escape from the hum drum of life and for some educational for others who knows.

It depends on what you mean by "escape".
If you mean to have a few laughs, maybe learn something, and just chill for a bit, then no, there's nothing wrong with it.
However, if you mean used as a means to shirk reality and responsibilities then yes, that's probably not going to be good in the long run.

Pack up your things, call 911, and run to your family. No one should ever be degraded and abused emotionally or physically. You deserve way more. Tell yourself your better than that because you are and just leave without thinking. You can make new friends and you always have family supporting to. You are NEVER alone remember that.
