For a lab study, we investigated the effect of four different colors of light (red, blue, green, and yellow) on the rate of photosynthesis of the ivy plant. In terms of my graph/lab reports, would I call these colors of light different "wavelengths" of light even though no lengths were measured, OR would I call the colors "hues," "shades," or simply "light quality?" What does "light quality" even mean anyways? Well, I hope someone might be able to help....thanks in advance.

Light quality, at plant photosynthesis, means effective light wavelenght to photosynthesis. You can buy LED diodes at certain wavelenght and certain light intencity.

In this case, "quality" just means "attribute" or "characteristic". The attribute in question is, of course, color. The lab is just trying to get you to think about color in a scientific way, rather than the usual perception.
