I think the smash in face is a horrible way to start married life! who came up with that idea? you are meant to link arms and feed each other, as you do with the drink, you are not going to toss champaigne at each other are you? why not surprise everyone and do it proper, no cake mashing!!
As for PIA bridesmaid....kill her with kindness,be sickenly sweet to her, this always p's them off no end or if you cannot pull that off, ignore her completely, this is your day and you should be able to enjoy it the way you want. Let her know how you feel, and tell her she cannot in any way shape or form ruin your day, as you will not let anything do that! then ignore her!
You and only You can choose if you will be happy or annoyed that day...it is up to you..
Congratulations, may you have many years together!
Hugs Maggie(36yrs married and counting! I choose to enjoy life!)

Do it! I've actually seen video of that. They had the wedding party lined up next to the bride and groom while they were cutting the cake and taking pictures. Right when they were about to smash it into each others faces they both turned around and got the best man and maid of honor instead! Hilarious!

actually, i do no longer understand the place this cake-smashing difficulty began out yet i stumble on it so frightening. The unfavorable bride has spent the day engaged on her hair and makeup so she would be able to look her maximum suitable for his or her particular social gathering, and the clod smashes cake in her face. How disrespectful are you able to get? I generally ask your self how a lot of those couples bring about divorce. I advise, in the event that they have so little appreciate for another already on the marriage, how ought to the marriage final.

it's your day sweetheart so do what you want, just remember that smashing a cake in a bridesmaid face may have some repercusions that you have not factored in and it could spoil your day.

Please do!!!! I have been to enough wedding that I am disappointed every time a new couples does that. I think I may not get married for that very reason. I would love to see someone change it up for once. I am also a fan of the new couple assaulting the entire wedding party with the cake. Anything to steer away from that stupid tradition.

I don't consider it a tradition to smash the cake in eachothers face. I think it's tacky. Do it in the bridesmaids face!!! That'll be fun! XP

Obviously, the majority of the people answering this question are very immature. I think it is one of the most childish things a bride and groom can do. Grow up and act like adults.

I personally think the whole cake smashing thing is tacky! Hello--this isn't just any piece of cake! What happened to being tender and lovingly feeding your new beloved?

Not sure where the cake smashing thing started, but I didn't do it at my wedding, and i could think of nothing more crass or in poor taste than doing that.
PS. All you "yea its a great idea" Types should have your friggin heads examined!
