Some people are just stuck up. It's an individual thing.

For instance, my mother is brilliant. Huge vocabulary, excellent at math and problem solving, keeps her home running great and volunteers at three charities... and she doesn't brag. I doubt she even feels that she's exceptional in any way.

My "husband", though. He's been called "evil" by several people lately because of what he's done to me, but he's claiming that he feels better about himself now than he ever has. Some people are just narcissistic and they don't need any prompting or reason.

Those attitudes belong to the individual, whether educated or not. I've seen those who think higher education makes them better and smarter than everyone else. But I know people who have a high school degree or less who have more wisdom than some of the most educated people I know.

Though the bible states that knowledge,"puffs up"..."Zero" and "Beenie" are correct in stating that it depends on the individual...

"Sinful" Pride once again, is the root problem, when haughtyness, self righteousness and arrogance are the manifestations of much learning. Education in the hands of an emotionally balanced individual, can be a great tool for advancement.

Education is just learning a set of facts so it is not to blame, it is all in how the individual decides to apply what they have learned. The individual's personality come to play in how they come across with the knowledge they've gained. No matter what our race is, our creed, our religion, our social status, it is always individualistic because no matter what group one may decide to be included in, they still are a unique individual therein.

I think education does the opposite; it challenges your ideas, and once you learn that you were wrong once, you're kind of humbled into being more careful about things like haughty attitudes in the future.

I'm NOT saying that education is bad, but ....... I do think higher education breeds a higher attitude towards those not as educated. I've seen it too much to deny it and it's only natural. (not right but easy to fall prey to) I think it's true, I don't agree with it but I understand it.

in many areas education is an excuse, not the cause, you will see the same attitudes in the uneducated, as in the educated.

even in this forum, you will find those with this attitude that are unable to put a sentence together, that is cognisant.
or understandable.

I think some people just think they're better than everyone else. I don't really know if it's their education or they're just plain ignorant. You can have all the education in the world, and still have no common sense.

God Bless You. =)

Education can be blamed for teaching the social norms. Most of which are contrary to Christianity.

Individual.

Many highly educated men are extremely humble people.
