I was just pulled over in a private parking lot for not stopping at a stop sign and waiting 3 seconds before moving forward. This was in a town in Cook County, IL.

The police officer did not follow me from a public street. He was parked in the fire lane in front of Home Depot. After parking and walking up to the store..I was told by a store employee that the officer had parked his car (in the fire lane), went into the store to buy some lawn bags and had just got back into his car when he flipped on his lights as I pulled away from the stop sign..

I did get a ticket...But the ticket was not for failer to stop at a stop sign. It was for not having a front plate on my car. Even though I showed the officer a copy of the form I had to fill out in the town I live in when I noticed my front plate was missing last week. The form stated that it would take up to 8 weeks to get my replacment plate from the state. The officer told me to show it to the judge and wrote me the ticket...

Yes. I received a ticket while my car was parked in front of my apartment building (a private parking lot) for having expired tags.
I managed to get the ticket thrown out because I could prove that the registration had been renewed. I just hadn't put the new sticker on the license plate. What annoyed me was the fact that cops have computers in their cars and this one could have easily checked on the status of my registration.

Yes anything in a moving vehicle, including being parked with keys in the ignition intoxicated. DUI even if you are not physically "driving" at the time. Weird laws eh?!

Give em the money....That's all the cops want from their victim....I mean the "offenders".

Besides it wouldn't matter if you got a ticket for not yielding at a smurf crossing.....EVERYTHING holds up in 'roo court.

if it all occurred as you told it...i would take it to court...a missing plate plus a 'note from your mom' to cover it should be dismissed.
