I know there is a sign that says trespassers can be shot, but has it actually happened or is just a scare tactic?

You would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, actually get close enough to the gate. There are more motion sensors and infrared detectors around the perimeter than you can imagine. They'll know you are coming from a LONG way off.

Try it and see. That sign is quite a distance from the gate at Groom Lake. And the sign is serious in its warning.

probably someone has been stupid enough to try it we will never know or will we because if you think about if the gov let out info that they had shot someone that tried to pass it would draw even more attention to area 51
