What are you trying to do?
You can type your text, then select it, then click Control U.

You could draw a line which is a graphic, by
opening the Drawing toolbar (cl View, Toolbars, Drawing)
you will get the Drawing toolbar across the bottom of the screen

click the line button
Shift-drag a line
right-click the line
select 'format autoshape'
cl layout tab
cl 'in front of text'
now draw it where you want

you could also work in a table - I do this a lot - but I don't want to go into a lengthy explanation if the above will do it for you.
