In the UK it is the Army (land), Royal Navy (sea) and the Royal Airforce (air).
In the USA I believe the marines and coast guard would be alongside the US Navy, US airforce and the army (but I could be wrong).

Just put the words together, it could mean many different things; its a FORCE of some kind of men, ARMED, meaning they have weapons.
