It was a very excellent decision that I made to enlist in the US Army. I was in the US Army for 21 years from 1958 to 1979 and enjoyed every minute of it and would go back in if needed!!

It was an absolutely wonderful decision. I spent 20 years 11 months and 3 days in the U.S. Army, if i had to start over, I'd do it all again in a heart beat. Ive been to combat twice. Its not fun, and nobody wants to go to war. Been to 16 Foreign countries, stationed in 3 of them. Have served with people from all over this great nation as well as met people from all over the world. It was my lifes work and nothing will ever compare to it. I smile frequently when i think how lucky I was.

The best decision ever. But I can only provide you with my experience. Like anything else you have to put something into it to get something out of it. It is not just a choice you make overnight. Get as many opinions from as many people as you can both pro and con, and weigh the information they provide some may be biased based on poor performance on their part.

Well let's see?....I joined the Army during my senior year 1992 at LaGrange Highschool and new I was getting married after basic & job training. Did all that and went to Panama. Wondering why I joined the Army? Well, was looking to get out of Texas for awhile. We went to Panama and enjoyed the rain and parrots. Our first son was born towards the end of my tour in Panama. We decided to come home for his birth. Born in Austin Texas in December 1994. Our next stop was Fort Campbell, Kentucky where I jumped out of helicopters. It was then when we decided to go to a Medical & Business Institute where Marvie finished and I did not. Before we left KY, my daughter was born in July 1997 and again we came back to Austin, Texas where she was born. After KY, we went to Alaska where....ya you guest it...was kinda cold but alot of fun. Then in 2001, I was stationed in Colorado and was deployed to Iraq in 2003. Once I returned to Colorado, I came down on orders for recruiting. Once I finished my schooling for recruiting, we moved to Houston, Texas for my next assignment of which we still are as of October 17, 2007. I have been in the Army for 15 years and plan on finishing my career in the Army as a recruiter.
I feel this has been the best decision I could have ever made.
