Satan is an imaginary entity.... god is the innocent smile of a child...as well as piercing of a thorn.

Good can exist without bad - but bad cannot exist without good. In the same way, God can exist without Satan, but not the other way around. So the whole concept of Satan "defeating" God is silly - can't happen by definition (nothing can defeat God) and should such a thing take place, Satan would simultaneously cease to exist.

God without Satan? Of course. If I recall rightly, before Lucifer rebelled, thats exactly how it was.
In terms of good without bad, how would you know what was bad if you didn't have an idea what was good? In most cases the opposite of something is simply its absence, but in the case of good and bad these words and ideas are defined by their opposition to each other.
From both a religious and non-religious viewpoint, as well as a logical/linguistical one, good and bad are necessary parts of the whole moral spectrum. They require each other to constitute a moral code, even if they are applied only as guidelines to show which end of a persons ethical scale is which.

Good can exist without bad but would we really know it was good without anything to compare it to?

God without Satan? I don't see why not. Didn't Satan used to be 'good' before he was 'bad'?

In a buddhistic point of veiw the answer is no. In a sense everything has been everything, is everything and will continue to be everything. So good and evil is a humanly perspective, True realization lies in noticing that we are both bad, nutral, and good. In a musical perspective the answer is also no. If your trying to sing in dynamics, in order to be loud you have to have quietness, in order to be quiet you have to have loud. If there is no good then everything is evil and therefore neutral, and if everything is good there is no evil and therefore neutral. So theoretically you could have a safe good environment, which is good to live in and happy and no real problems without any evils, but that wouldn't be good, it would be a neutrality and good would have to be greater than that already optimum. Make sense?

No.
First of all... we are creatures of duality.. night and day.. good and bad... left and right..

Also everything has to be relative to everything else. Einstein's relativity theory is actually quite genius and can be applied to anything.

That movie was good.. relative to the other one..

The boy that committed armed robbery is good compared to the vicious serial killer.

Even though the girl got a C on the test.. since it was the highest grade relative to all others it was the best.

Too simplistic. The opposite of Good is not Evil - it's Neutrality.

These three form a continuum: Good ->neutral -> Evil

Your question implies that if you had never felt pleasure, you wouldn't be able to feel pain. That's nonsense.

I'm not going to weigh on this one myself, but I'll point to someone who does have an opinion on your question: Carlton Pearson, founder of the New Dimensions Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He's a prominent minister who came to disbelieve in the notion of Hell. You might find his views relevant to your question.
