You are obviously drinking the wrong American beers. Some of the best beers in the world are made by craft brewers right here in the states. If you like stout try Left Hand's Milk Stout out of Longmont, CO. It's fantastic! Ro Guenzel is an excellent brewer. I think it scored a 97 at the Great American Beerfest. Odells Extra Special Red is great. Way better than Murphy's. If you are a hop head (which I am assuming you are not since you pan all US beers) try Mojo Rising from Boulder Brewing. Pilsner - Odells Imperial Pilsner or Morimota (Iron Chef) Imperial Pilsner from Rogue. Left Hand's Oktoberfest was killer this year. Sierra Nevada Celebration and Anchor Christmas are almost always great. Jolly Pumpkin brews some good stuff to. I agree that there are plenty of great imports out there, but you should be able to find some great domestic products in your area, or brew your own.

I guess you are asking why American macrobrews suck, and well, they do. But the other answer was spot on, there are many craft breweries out there that make terrific beers. Take Samuel Smith or Sierra Nevada for example. Great beers, many different styles such as porters, stouts, pale ales, brown ales, ipa's. Budweiser has one style that they either add or lessen the ingredients: pale lager.
Do like I did, learn to brew your own beer. It's cheaper, more fun, and you make beer that YOU want to drink.

it somewhat is an opinion yet, individually i be attentive to human beings who like stable tasting beer. American beer won't do. maximum human beings dont pick that genuine "hops" stable style. genuine beer drinkers like Beer no longer gentle beer. i'm a Miller gentle drinker myself. purely because of the fact i'm American and that i dont like that stable style. Thats what I call Piss Beer.

The 'big brand' American beers are pretty much pilsners. Pilsners are pretty crappy wherever they're made.
Try stouts and ales. They taste much better.
