Phone friends.

Make lists of things to do.

Listen to music.

I really like to watch other people as well - I enjoy observing.

It depends very much where you're waiting though - don't irritate other people.

First off if I am reading & having to wait I take a couple of my own magazines. That way if they don't have anything interesting to read and/or I don't like one of mine or read it too fast I have another.

Before they got expensive I always made sure one was either Star & Globe as it had a huge crossword puzzle in back.

If you're pretty sure it's going to be a long wait & you're taking a book, also take a magazine. Unless you're really into the book it can be tiring. Plus if you're almost done with it you might finish & have nothing.

I also take a small to medium size notebook in my purse. Any letter writing I need to do, I can get done. It's also good to make an errand or shopping list, write poetry if you feel inspired, etc. A lot more convienent than the electronic stuff.

Then a little quirk of mine is taking a digital camera everywhere I go. You never know when it might come in handy. An old friend you run into, etc.

I also take a calculator. I can always think of something I need to total up & my notebook is handy to make a note of it.

In case you haven't guessed by now I can't stand to just sit. lol!
