Punish means to inflict pain. Pain is only present for those who have a human physical body. Once the body dies, we no longer feel emotions or pain, therefore, all the threats of burning in hell, and God "punishing" us is a load of caca.
Besides, punishment is meant to cause pain whereas a good parent doles out discipline instead. There is a big difference....

In order to answer this question, we first need to distinguish between punishment and discipline. For believers in Jesus, all our sin – past, present and future – has already been punished on the cross. As Christians, we will never be punished for sin. That was done once for all. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Because of the sacrifice of Christ, God sees only the righteousness of Christ when He looks at us. Our sin has been nailed to the cross with Jesus, and we will never be punished for it.
The sin that remains in our lives, however, does sometimes require God’s discipline. If we continue to act in sinful ways and we do not repent and turn from that sin, God brings His divine discipline to bear upon us. If He did not, He would not be a loving and concerned Father. Just as we discipline our own children for their welfare, so does our heavenly Father lovingly correct His children for their benefit. Hebrews 12:7-13 tells us, "As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children.

It is absurd to think that god would punish.HE is not a police man of a Judge .He is one who was capable of creating the whole universe with all the animate and inanimate beings in it and one who is OMNIPOTENT .He is no IMPOTENT in creating a humanity that is incapable of committing any sin or anything bad that would require him to do an unnecessary wasteful labour of punishing his own creation.HE is not a sadist .Some sadist would have portrayed the OMNIPOTENT GOD as impotent and incapable of creating the humans with the qualities and character that HE wanted them to have. If god id incapable of creating such humans, that god could not have created the greater miracle of creating the whole universe ..
When confessed the same God is said to e forgiving irrespective of he nature and gravity of the sin.So the same god is whimsical and acts like a dictator .Portraying god like this should be blasphemous

Read the Bible story of Suddam and Ghomorrah...That's just a little example of puinishment. As seen in that story, look at the world today and see where it is going, then read the last book of the Bible (Revelation).....Connect the dots aight. He does punish, but yet he holds us higher then the Angeles in heaven, and created us in his image. He punishes, and yet there is forgiveness for underserving people like us. He does it because he has a agape love for us.

God has many responsibilities which make this Brahmand work.
One responsibility is to note what our mind thinks. What mind thinks or desires is taken as Karma or our deeds.
The other responsibility is to give results for our deeds. Good deeds give us good results, bad deeds give us bad results.
So God is only giving us in response to what we did in the past. He is not punishing us. He is bound by His own laws which must continue to do justice all the time.
God Himself is only mercy. If you remember God, He protects you, fulfils your desires and even becomes your slave. He is that unlimited happiness that every soul is looking for.

I don not think God goes out of His way to punish anyone, people simply suffer the consequences of their actions.

NO. What happens to us 'down' here is just chance. If you're in the wrong place, or right place. God doesn't interfere directly with what is going on here. How would he decide who to do, and who not to?
If he did, then weird stuff would be happening all the time, the laws of chance and physics being broken.
