no one was around.....

£20.00 on the floor...

Then you are near the check out and you can see someone checking their pockets taking their things back of the conveyor belt and trying to find the money that they dropped.

What would you do, there are no right or wrong answers, I just want to know?

Truthfully?
I'd look at the person, judge them based on their appearance (would they do the same for me? Is £20 alot of money to them? etc...) and make a decision on whether or not to return the money.
Wrong, yes.
But thats what I'd do.

I would ask them if they had lost something. If indeed they had lost £20, I would hand it over to them.

I have a habit of finding money on floors/the ground and when there is no prospect of finding the owner, I give it to a good cause. Apart from the fact that I would not feel comfortable about benefiting from someone else's misfortune, I feel that perhaps I was meant to find it to do the right thing with it.

Almost EXACTLY the same thing happened to me about ten years ago, except the person was looking outside the store, and it was $50usd. I could see what was happening, I gave the money back that I had found in the bushes by the door to the store.
Had forgotten that also, until you question.

I would ask them if they had lost something and if they said they had lost the money I would give it back to them under any circumstances because even if they seemed rude it would probably be that they are stressed as they have lost the money. you cannot judge someone by what they look like or how they act at the end of the day it is their money and it belongs to them I would like to think that someone would do the same for me.

I'd walk up to that person and ask if they needed some assistance. When the person told me that he/she had dropped £20.00, I'd say, "Well, you're in luck, because I found £20.00! Here you go!" And I'd hand it over. It's just not right to keep something that I know belongs to someone else.

Go up to the person and ask them if they dropped some money, if they say yes, ask them about how much they think they dropped. If they get the amount right, then hand over the money, if not, give it to customer service desk. Remember, whoever dropped that money probably needs it more than you do!

I would ask if they'd lost something, if they gave you the right amount, give it back. Otherwise I'd hand it in to customer services. I always think it could be someone's last £20 and they could be far worse off than I am.

I would ask the person if they have lost anything and if they say £20.00 then I'd give it to them and if there isn't someone around or some one looking for something they've lost then i would give it to charity =]

I would ask if they lost something, if yes, I would ask them what did they lose. If They say money I would ask how much. If they answer correctly i would give them the cash. It sound like a lot but I would ask.

First ask them what they've lost. That way you know that they have indeed lost that 20.00. And if you had any conscience or etiquette, you would return the money.
